ADA Angel. Lee Shing experiences serious vision impairment due to congenital retinitis pigmentosa. Despite his gradual worsening eyesight, Lee Shing continued with a strong pursuit of piano music. He gave his first solo piano recital in 2009, hoping that his experience can inspire young people nowadays to enhance their morale and willpower and help them to foster proper values towards life. He was awarded both The Most Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award and The Most Outstanding Performer Award at “Cross All Borders: Hong Kong Festival Showcasing New Performing Artists with Disabilities 2011”. In 2013, Lee was sponsored by the “Artists with Disability Development Fund” to further study in music and having musical exchange in Salzburg and Vienna respectively.
In recent years, Lee Shing has studied piano under the mentorship of renowned pianist, Ms Nancy Loo and Ms Michelle Kim through the arrangements of ADA, and he also has actively participated in various performances. In 2012, he performed with his brother Lee Hin in a mini music concert titled “Blurred Music Notes” which is part of “The Sound of Art – Free Sunday Concert Series” held in the Hong Kong Museum of Arts and perform with musicians from the Royal Academy of Music HK Alumni Association in St. John Cathedral for “Musical Bridge – A Charity Concert for the Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong”. Being invited by the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, Lee Shing took part in the “Freespace Fest 2013” as guest performer. In 2014, Lee Shing participated in the “Love Passion Music” fundraising concert orginised by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and also performed in HKGNA Music Festival 2014 “Breaking Boundaries” and “Stars of Today & Tomorrow” Concert.
Lee Shing also participates in various international exchange events. He was invited to be a guest performer in “International Day of People with Disability 2014” held in Macau SAR. In 2015, he represented Hong Kong to perform in “HKGNA Young Virtuoso Concert 2015” at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
